Red Box It ♥ Alex Cross

Alex Cross didn't really feel like a big budget movie to me... it was kind of like a cop show on TV.  Maybe this is because I watch too many cop shows on TV?  I mean Alex Cross was good, entertaining and had an intriguing storyline, but it seemed of quality only slightly better than TV.  And maybe that's not a bad thing either.  Maybe we just have really excellent TV.
So let's get to the movie deets: Tyler Perry is Alex Cross.  Now I haven't read the books... although, I heard the movie is nothing like the books (sounds familiar, right?)  But I think Tyler Perry did an A+ job as Alex Cross.  We also had a great villain Matthew Fox (hello, Party of Five star!).  Fox was a very convincing bad guy.
And Edward Burns... I haven't seen him in a minute either.  I love his unique voice.
The verdict?  Alex Cross is definitely worth the Red Box price!  Some would probably think it's a bit cheesy, but I think we all know I'm OK with a little cheese... So have you seen Alex Cross?  What did you think?  (OH and CONGRATS on getting through Monday... I feel like this was my first real Monday in quite a while and it was a little rough.)

Red Box It ♥ Looper

It's really sad that it took me so long to see to see the movie Looper.  I wanted to see it in the movie theater... then I wanted to see it at the cheap theater too.  But it finally happened via Red Box.

It seemed like a long movie, but it is really on 119 minutes... so it's really just a 2 hour movie.  It's not super easy to follow the movie which could have something to do with it.

The movie itself was good... interesting, great actors and a decent ending.  It was really bizarre seeing Joseph Gordon-Levitt with a fake nose.  Joseph Gordon-Levitt played present day Joe and Bruce Willis played Old Joe.  BUT it was great when you have the scene with young Joe and Old Joe.  The nose makes it a lot more believable.

Did you see Looper?  What did you think?

At the Cinema ♥ Oblivion

It has been awhile since I've seen a great Tom Cruise movie...
But Oblivion delivers!  It was an intriguing sci-fi movie.
I left the theater still thinking about it... usually a good sign.  It wasn't predictable (at least for me), but super entertaining.  Morgan Freeman was excellent per usual!
Also, Jack's (Tom Cruise) lover Victoria was Andrea Riseborough.  She was uniquely beautiful.  She had a weird chemistry with Jack, which was perfect as the story unfolded.
But of course there was another woman... Julia played by Olga Kurylenko
Did you see Oblivion?  What did you think?

♥ Finances?!?

Who ever wants to think about finances?  Not a shopper like me!

Well I did take a financial class today at my church and WHOA... it gave me a lot to think about.  And it was a bit rough to take a closer look at my personal finances and realize I'm going to have to make some changes.

And we got quite the lesson on compounded interest... how it can work for you with savings and how it can work against you with credit cards.

Whether it's $100 or the $1000 depicted in this graph you make exponentially more when you are saving with compounded interest.  You can see for the first couple of years it goes slow, but then it starts to rapidly increase.  (The same concept is working AGAINST you with credit cards)

Oh, and you know the minimum payment on a credit card?  It's only 2%!  You may as well just completely ignore that section...

Just something to think about it!

At the Cinema ♥ G.I. Joe: Retaliation

Well, it wasn't my choice, but G.I. Joe Retaliation was most definitely an entertaining movie.
I didn't even watch the first one, but it still made for light and adventurous night!  Oh, and A LOT nice looking G.I. Joes.

On the Tube ♥ Hart of Dixie: The Kiss

Zoe has a dream about George driving 6 hours to pick her up a copy of The New York Times.  Who says chivalry is dead?  (I guess not in dreams at least?)
Then Zoe and George end up cast as Romeo & Juliet after Tansy gets laryngitis.
Is it just me or do they wear a lot of costumes on Hart of Dixie?  Oh, well I like it!
George and Zoe both try to avoid the kiss in Romeo & Juliet, but Tansy insists George kiss Zoe to show that he doesn't still have feelings for Zoe.  (Ahhhh, girl logic--you've got to love it!)
Lavon and Annabeth are pretty cute as a couple!

At the end of the episode, Zoe says she is totally over George even though it's clearly not true.  And next week's preview: Brick has a tumor! (Boo)

At the Cinema ♥ Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor

After seeing the trailer for Tyler Perry's latest movie Temptation, I knew I had to see it.

This movie was not what I expected at all, but it definitely has a message.  An important message, something a lot of movies today are lacking.

I thought about what I could write about Temptation without giving away the storyline and what else came to mind, but the lovely Kim Kardashian?

Kim Kardashian plays Ava who is the main character Judith's bitchy coworker and makeover fairy godmother.  During some of Kardashian's scenes, I wanted to see her own her bitchiness a bit more.  It was kind of like she was trying to be bitchy, but not too mean.  I'd rather just see her be a complete bitch.  I know she has it in her!  But she did have a great funny scene in the movie and overall did a pretty good job.  Could she use some acting lessons?  Probably, but when you're a Kardashian you can land movie roles without acting school.

Did you see Temptation?  What did you think?  Did you love it?  Hate it?
