Rock that smile

I took a workshop put on by Portland Bloggers where we worked with some amazing photographers like Marge Jacobsen on our photography skills (or lack their of).  I LOVE this glam, rock n' roll smiley necklace that I photographed on Sarah from Favery.  Easily my favorite photo from the entire event. :)  Look closely and you'll see the emoji faces on the yellow beads.

Just a tote

I took a sewing class and created this fun tote in a few hours.  The class was held at PDX's Modern Domestic.  I would highly recommend their classes.  I've taken 2 classes and the instructors have both been wonderful.  And the sewing machines!  You sew on these amazing Bernina sewing machines that Modern Domestic sells.  Admittedly, they are kind of awesome and have all kinds of cool features to make your sewing even and perfect-looking.

My tote is made out of a black and white home decor fabric lined with a bright blue duck cloth (just like my cardigan).  It was a fun project and I'm hoping to do some more sewing.

A crocheting first, my very first item of clothing!

I love to crochet and have made a lot of items over the years.  Hundreds of scarves would not be an exaggeration.  But this was a BIG first.  My first actual item of crochet clothing.  I typically like to do smaller project like accessories or little animals.  I like projects that I can finish.  But making my first crochet shrug was pretty awesome!  Yes, it took a lot longer than little projects, but I'm sure happy with the final result.  It was a little tricky, but I think I'm off to a great start with creating more wearable art of the clothing variety. :)

I also posted some other new items in my etsy shop, yup you guessed it - scarves!  But these are not just any old scarves... these are toast scarves, which are kind of awesome.

And now I'm working on another crochet shrug that will be a little nautical...
Well that's all the items I've been crocheting lately.  What about you?  Any fun crochet projects?

XOXO honeybees!

Win Some, Lose Some - Carrie Diaries

Carrie Dairies is back on Fridays on the CW.  I'm hoping this is not a bad sign.  A Friday night time slot seems to be the kiss of death for so many shows and I quite enjoy this one.  As always, it's super easy to catch up online too.  This show is pretty much exactly what I thought NYC would be like.  That is until I actually lived there for a summer and it was pretty much the most unglamorous thing ever.  I much prefer The Carrie Diaries version of NYC then the actual sweaty, expensive and grimy real life version.  The Carrie Diaries is your perfect saucy high school soap opera.  And this particular episode was a great start to the new season!

Happy Halloween Honeybees!

Happy Halloween 2013!  That should be an especially spooky year, right? :)

My favorite things about Halloween
1. CHOCOLATE
2. Dressing up (I really appreciate a Halloween wig)
3. Halloween fake eye lashes (stock up people, they only come around once a year)

Warren's favorite things about Halloween
1. Halloween Peeps!
2. Pumpkins (I like to look at them, I hate carving them)
3. My birthday is the very next day!

Linda's favorite things about Halloween
1. Little kids' costumes
2. Pumpkin flavored everything
3. That much closer to Thanksgiving
So what are your favorite things about Halloween honeybees?

Here's a peek at my super simple Halloween costume, a little monster!  I just purchased the furry purple monster kit - headband and fuzzy fingerless gloves included.  I already had the blue wig.  Add some Halloween fake eyelashes and presto - Halloween costume.

What to Pack for Vegas

As I prepare for Warren's amazing Vegas Birthday trip, I face the question of what to pack for Vegas.  Holly, Warren and I will be jetting off to Vegas this Friday.  We'll be seeing Shania Twain, a hypnotist and who knows who else in Sin City.

But first things first, what to pack on a Vegas trip.

Step One.  Check the weather.  This is essential for including the right items in the luggage.  Currently, the forecast is high 70s to high 40s.  Quite a range, so we'll be sure to pack layers!

Step Two.  Consider events.  I'm thinking my new leopard dress for Shania Twain.  This just seems obvious.  Shania.  Leopard.  Perfection.  The hypnotist show is a bit more of a toss-up.  But I do have a black fringe top from Forever 21 that is waiting to make it's debut...

Step Three.  Consider comfort.  I will definitely be packing some comfort shoes for all that Vegas walking.  There is no need to wear heels all day ladies!  Think about those toes.  Oh, and don't forget a comfy outfit for the airplane.  But keep it cute, you never know who you might meet on the airplane.  (At least we can hope)

Step Four.  Accessorize.  Don't forget to pack coordinating goodies - earrings, rings, etc.

Step Five.  The day you leave, toss in the other essentials you can't pack until you are set to take off - toothpaste, face wash, etc.

OoO, I cannot wait for my Vegas trip.  I had a bit of disappointment this last weekend and a Vegas trip should be just the thing to cheer me up!  That and a bit of sun.

Take this job and shove it - Hart of Dixie

Zoe starts diagnosing everyone, especially her boyfriend Joel since she isn't working.  So they hatch a plan to get Zoe back to work.  Of course it's comical and doesn't go quite as planned in true Zoe fashion.  Meanwhile, Lavon's niece is after George Tucker (major time).  And George Tucker gets stuck (literally) and Zoe has to help him out.  Lemon rebelled and had to pay her dues to the Belles.  Lavon gets Brick's help to try to woo a baseball team to Bluebell instead of a neighboring town.  The lady making the call about the baseball team knew Brick in college and has quite the crush on the local doctor.  This episode packed in a lot of funny situations!  It's nice to take a break in Bluebell and see how Zoe is settling back into life in Bluebell.

Friends in Low Places - Hart of Dixie

Lemon + Wade, sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g

Yup, that's the face I made too!
What's better than a fake relationship between Lemon and Wade?  HAHA.  Not much.  It's pretty hilarious to see Lemon and Wade faking it.  And of course, it definitely gets under Zoe's skin, which Wade is only too happy to see.  (Since he loves Zoe, but there is the whole cheating on her thing last season, which I want to forget, but it's difficult to do completely.)  This makes things complicated when Lemon finally meets an eligible bachelor.  (You know the whole fake relationship with Wade thing?)
And we'll have to see if Zoe's new New Yorker boyfriend Joel can really made Bluebell home?  Oh, it's going to be an interesting season in Bluebell!

What did you think of this week's episode? Want to check it out online?  Click here.

Who says you can't go home - Hart of Dixie

Hart of Dixie is back!  Oh, how its been missed.  Well, at least it's been missed by me.  And I wouldn't be surprised if you missed it too, if you're anything like me.  Over the summer, Dr. Hart headed back to NYC where she made a new life.  And she found a new beau.  Plagued by visions of the residents of Bluebell, Dr. Hart returns to Bluebell to say good-bye.  Zoe had decided to not return to Bluebell but rather stay in NYC and she informed the town folk via email (Oh, Zoe).  And so the fun begins.  Will Zoe really say a final good-bye to Bluebell?
It's also quite interesting seeing how the show hid Lemon's (well, Jamie King's) pregnancy.  And Lavon's cousin has moved to town and she's already stirring up trouble! (Cue one night stand with a local lawyer)

If you missed Hart of Dixie on Monday... (I really wish they would not have moved this show to Monday.  Mondays have so many good shows, The Bachelor/Bachelorette and now I'm loving Sleepy Hollow... I hate having to pick between my favorite shows)  Luckily, you can catch this first episode of this season online here.

Happy viewing honeybees!  What do you think is in store for this season of Hart of Dixie?  Do you think Zoe will really forgive Wade?  Do you think they should be back together?  Or what about this new guy?  Is the quirky, sweet nerd just what Zoe needs?

Tea & Sparkly Moustaches

Warren and I went to a delicious tea spot Stash Tea in Portland, OR.  I had the Smiling Buddha Green Chai.  It was amazing!  I would highly recommend it.  This place is mostly a tea shop, but it has a few tables where you can chat and enjoy a spot of tea.

A little yogurt, blogging & fun... Oh, and happy almost FRIDAY

Hey, hey, hey.  It's almost FRIDAY honeybees.  Who's excited for the weekend?  (Me.)  No better way to kick off the almost TGIF then with a little meet up with some blogging buddies Rachel (how cool is her organizing book for her blog & life?) & Warren to discuss blogging over frozen yogurt.
I also finished up a black slouchy hat for the fabulous Miss Mills.  She's going to help me take some photos for my etsy shop this weekend.  Crossfingers for some OK weather, please.  I realize I need to make more black hats, particularly black slouchy hats because they are a common request.  But do you ever crochet or knit with black yarn?  It's wayyyy trickier because it's so dark!  It's kind of hard to see.  But if it's what the market demands... yeah, I need to make more black stuff.  I also finally redeemed my coupon for a yummy snack of Sargento Cheese!  I love the colby.  I even got a little insulated sleeve for a cheese stick.  Thanks influenster!

Tomorrow is PAYDAY, yippee.  I have a Vegas trip to pay for soon.  Woot. :)

Crochet booties, Dip & well wishes!

Hello honeybees!

Well, I promised you booties and here they are.  They are now on the way to Ohio via USPS to my dear old friend Kendra who is now back in the good ol' USofA.  (I didn't make the booties, it was actually the handy work of my madre)

I had the most delicious appetizer at Pastini.  It was the Roasted Artichoke-Garlic Spread with Bruschetta ringing in at $6.95.  Seriously, bomb artichoke dip.  It's kind of mild, but still so yummy.  I'm used to spinach and artichoke dip and this one is just artichoke.  And it's very cheesy!  Who doesn't love cheese?  Well, vegans.  I'm friends with one... and to be fair I think she loves cheese, but it's more important to her to be healthy.  And that's pretty cool.

I looked for calories online so we could all cry *tears* over how many calories are in the artichoke dip and I couldn't find it!  So there you go.  Eat as much as you want.  No calories are available at this time. :)

Well tomorrow is my 6 month review at work.  Wish me luck!  Otherwise, I could become a full time blogger and now THAT would be scary.

XOXO!  Have a wonderful week honeybees.  It's already the end of Weds, only a few day until the weekend.  :)

The end of summer

I guess technically summer doesn't end until September 21, but my guess is that it might come a little sooner here in Oregon... I guess we'll see soon.

Warren and I spent a relaxing day at the river.  It's like a beach and a river and it's nice and close to PDX at Reeder Beach at Sauvie Island.  You have to pay $7 for a parking pass.  You can just stop at the general store once you cross the bridge onto the island.  It's well worth it to spend a day at a beach (there's sand) where you can lay out or relax in the river.  Be sure to bring a floaty!

Also, I finally got the best tan of summer! :)  And just in the nick of time, right?  I'm proud of those tan lines!  And with Instagram, it's even more dramatic!  Instagram just makes everything look soooo much better.  What would we do without filters?
How are you spending your Labor Day weekend?  Whatever you're doing, I hope you enjoy and get plenty of R&R.  Oh, and drink your H2O!  I didn't do enough of that this morning and I was getting light headed (no bueno).  So my new goal is to drink more H2O,  a lot more!  And sleep... I need more of that too. :)
A big crochet bow
(I ended up making this into a headband)
And a cute puppy photo is always in style

Oh my goodness gracious, it's almost September!

Hello Honeybees!

I hope you had an excellent week.  This week went by crazy fast for me.  I'm not really sure why except maybe cause I was kind of exhausted from going to the beach last week.  Does that make any sense?  Probably not.

But YAY for more weekends.

Well I guess the first exciting thing is that I had an Etsy sale!  WOOOHOO.  I sold a little yoda that I made to a fellow PDX etsy seller Meg.

You would be surprised (or maybe it's just me) how hard it is to get sales on Etsy. I do pretty well at bazaars and craft shows where people can see and touch the product, but online sales are a lot trickier!  It's a way bigger marketplace.  However, I've started attending some Etsy events with Sarah so I'm definitely learning.

The PDX Etsy event was held at a very cool little place called the White Owl Social Club.  I would say I DID NOT fit in with my pink blazer.  It was a very cool crowd.  A lot of black.  A lot of tattoos.  Sometimes I feel very "unPortland" and I wonder where my crowd is... definitely not here.  But they have a super cute back patio (HUGE patio) and yummy food with vegan options!

I had the sliders.  I love cute things.  Including little burgers.  They were tasty!  And the fries were yummy too.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.  Get a little R&R.  I don't believe we do quite enough of that in our crazy busy lives filled with all sorts of other stuff!

Treat of the Day

You are going to LOVE this puppy roll video.  It's pretty much the cutest thing ever.  And I want a puppy again.

Long Beach, WA weekend summer trips!

I had an amazing time this weekend in Long Beach, WA.  It was a gorgeous drive and great little getaway.  I also got to see my childhood friend Theresa and her husband Jeremy, plus her cute puppers.  I decided to take a cue from scathingly brilliant and do my post with only instagram photos!

How was your weekend?  Any fun getaways or anything you're planning?  I hope you have a relaxing Sunday eve and good week.  I have a presentation tomorrow at work, wish me luck! :)
